Werkomgeving

Je werkt als BIM-Project Manager en je bent verantwoordelijk voor het implementeren en coördineren van BIM-processen binnen infrastructuur projecten, vanuit ons kantoor in Hasselt  (of Gent/ Brussel), binnen onze afdeling Transport Infrastructuur, de afdeling binnen Tractebel die voornamelijk projecten ontwerpt/studeert met betrekking tot wegen, tramverbindingen, luchthavens, tunnels en bruggen.

Naast het ontwerpen van wegen is het ontwerpen van rioleringssystemen een tweede belangrijk onderdeel, rekening houdend met de klimaatsverandering en een duurzaam gebruik van het (regen)water.

 

Taken

  • Toezicht houden op de kwaliteit en efficiëntie van het BIM-proces; toezicht op de productie, coördinatie en kwaliteitscontroles en je rapporteert hierover
  • Opstellen van BIM-werkprocedures;  je leidt het proces van het opstellen en organiseren van BIM-werkprocedures, inclusief het bijwerken en actualiseren van BIM-uitvoeringsplan.
  • Leiderschap in BIM-informatieprocedures; je bent verantwoordelijk voor het opbouwen en uitwisselen van BIM-informatieprocedures volgens de geldende standaarden.
  • Opstellen van BIM-planning; je schat het BIM-budget in en bereidt de BIM-planning voor in overeenstemming met de algemene projectplanning
  • Werken in teamverband is voor jou vanzelfsprekend en motiverend.
  • Je communiceert met andere project/disciplineleden.
  • Je blijft op de hoogte van evoluties in je discipline.

 

Profiel

  • Je hebt een masterdiploma ingenieurswetenschappen of industriële wetenschappen
  • Een relevante werkervaring van 3 jaar met de toepassing van BIM voor infrastructuurprojecten
  • Je beschikt over leidinggevende en organisatorische vaardigheden om strategische en tactische samenwerkingsrelaties tot stand te brengen
  • Grondige kennis van de digitale context en applicaties inzake BIM
  • Communicatievaardig om alle betrokken partijen effectief te laten samenwerken
  • Je bent planmatige en analytisch ingesteld
  • Je hebt een goede kennis van MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) en MS Project.

What You Can Expect

As the Senior Systems Engineer (SE) is a key player of a diverse team developing cutting-edge energy storage solutions. This position requires technical expertise in battery storage technologies, with focus on lithium-ion batteries. This role includes identifying project requirements, designing battery energy storage systems, specifying system components, supporting the business development team, managing projects from design to operation, and supporting the operations team. This position is part of the Flexible Generation & Retail Global Business Unit (FGBU) in North America. 

 

Every day you will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to specify suitable system components, define the system design, calculate the size of the battery system throughout the life of the project, and generate comprehensive bills-of-material for material and labor cost evaluation. Additionally, you will manage all technical aspects on project execution, from the design phase through development, installation, commissioning, and operation; primary EPC engineering interface.

 

  • Provide support to internal business team in engaging prospective utility companies and Authority Having Jurisdiction
  • Identify and articulate business development requirements
  • Formulate high-level detailed system design drawings and layouts for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Primary interface with the project Owner’s Engineer
  • Ensure Engie’s BESS internal guidelines are followed
  • Train Operations & Maintenance (O&M) technician and support with troubleshooting system issues
  • Responsible for oversight, considering company policies and procedures, codes and standards, and regulations, of engineering consultants’ and other contractors’ electrical designs and construction as required to deliver the assigned projects
  • Act independently with minimal direction and, as a project team member, must be able to work cooperatively to deliver quality electrical engineering for the project, interconnection agreements, and the team’s goals for a successful project
  • Must keep up to date on new technologies and regulatory conditions including codes, industry standards, best practices, customer requirements, and other relevant standards.
  • Review system drawing sets for purposes of bidding, permitting, and construction in accordance with ENGIE standards, NEC, IEEE and any other local codes

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in renewable systems engineering
  • Extensive expertise in battery technology for storage applications including batteries, inverters, transformers, substations, protection and controls, battery management and energy management systems
  • Profound technical knowledge, particularly in the realm of battery storage technologies or renewable energy systems is a plus.

Additional Details

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,100 – $147,660 USD annually

What You Can Expect

Our Electrical Engineer III, will be located at the University of Iowa Campus in Iowa City, IA. You will be will be involved in the Electrical Engineering design, construction, operations and troubleshooting activities for utility power, chilled water, steam, and water production and associated distribution systems at ENGIE at The University of Iowa. Your primary focus will be on becoming a subject matter expert in electrical systems at this site, with occasional support extended to other locations. You'll collaborate closely with internal departments, customers, and external partners throughout the utility projects' lifecycle, from development and construction to ongoing operations. you'll provide occasional consultancy services, aiding in troubleshooting and operations beyond the utility meter.

 

You'll be responsible for maintaining the campus-wide electrical model for both ENGIE and The University, with a keen focus on ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Your duties will extend to conducting arc flash modeling and relay coordination across all voltage levels, spanning ENGIE and The University of Iowa's Main and Oakdale campuses. You will play a crucial role in troubleshooting electrical distribution issues for ENGIE and the University, addressing concerns on both sides of the building meter to ensure seamless operations.

 

Your involvement will also encompass participating in switching plans and curtailments, working closely with our Regional Electrical Provider to ensure compliance and optimize efficiency. You'll be tasked with performing peak load calculations to enhance system performance and reliability. You'll be responsible for drafting comprehensive event summaries to document key activities and outcomes, facilitating clear communication and accountability across all stakeholders.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or another engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university

  • Either a PE License or a willingness to obtain one, showcasing your commitment to professional development and adherence to industry standards
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience where you have demonstrated a solid understanding of electrical design, power generation, distribution, and/or utility systems while gaining experience developing standards, specifications, and documentation
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code and NFPA 70E, essential for ensuring compliance and safety in electrical systems
  • Proficiency in electrical design, calculation, and analysis tools such as AutoCAD and SKM or their competitors
  • A strong understanding of arc flash, short circuit, load flow, and protective systems design and operation, critical for maintaining system reliability and safety
  • You have participated in the development of technical specifications, procurement, installation and operations for power plant, medium voltage distribution, substations, and associated protective relaying and control  systems
  • Experienced in coordinating with external electric utilities on transmission interconnection design and operations and incident investigations and event summarization
  • Experience in assisting contracted third-party design firms of utility systems, demonstrating your ability to collaborate effectively with external partners
  • You are a skilled troubleshooter of utility and customer electrical systems
  • Up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and regulatory conditions, including utility requirements, vendor qualifications, industry best practices, safety standards, and relevant standards development

  • Proficient in verbal, written and electronic communications using tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to  create emails presentations and other professional communicate to Internal customers, vendors and other stakeholders
  • Experienced in building relationships and collaborating with project development, design, construction and operations teams facilitating smooth project execution and operation

 

 

Additional Details

  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 5% of the time with the need for some overnight trips

  Mission

Profile

  • Relevant experience in power system consultancy;
  • Good knowledge of software tools dedicated to power systems analysis and simulations;
  • Good communication skills – both written and oral;
  • Writing consultancy reports;
  • Good knowledge and use of specific power system dedicated software tools such as: Eurostag/SmartFlow and/or PSS/E and/or Neplan and/or Digsilent;
  • Dynamic modelling skills for generating units/loads/FACTS/HVDC with dedicated software tools.
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office package;

Compétences principales :

Compétences en Instrumentation et Contrôle-Commande : Architecture I&C, Instruments, qualification nucléaire d’équipements, systèmes de contrôle-commande.

Connaissance du fonctionnement d’installations industrielles et ou de centrales nucléaires. Une première expérience dans le domaine du nucléaire est un plus, mais pas indispensable.

Connaissance des codes de conception et des exigences spécifiques dans le nucléaire (RCC-E, IEC, etc…) est un plus.

Rigoureux, sérieux, autonome, vous possédez une forte capacité à gérer et à intervenir face à des situations imprévues. L’esprit d’équipe est une de vos qualités.

Vous êtes doté de bonnes capacités rédactionnelles et de communication, ainsi que d’un esprit de synthèse. La proactivité et la curiosité intellectuelle sont particulièrement appréciées afin d’intervenir sur des sujets diversifiés et à forte valeur ajoutée.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The development of utility-scale energy projects and subsequent participation in government and corporate tenders in Engie Southern Africa is led by a Business Development Department and supported by the Engineering Department. The general role of a Technical Project Lead (TPL) is to:

  • Define and Lead the technical aspects of projects in Pre-Development (Feasibility), Development (Bid/Tender) and Final Development Stage (Financial Close) stage, including interfacing with internal stakeholders, engineering consultants, technology providers, suppliers and contractors with the aim of:
    • maturing technical solutions through each phase
    • improving bid competitiveness
    • and ensuring technical governance and sustainability criteria are respected (quality, health & safety, efficiency, environmental compliance) for the construction, operation and maintenance of the asset. 
  • Be responsible for choice of technologies, technical configuration and for setting relevant performance, statutory, safety and quality requirements.
  • Be responsible for the prescription, procurement specification, adjudication and management of technical services and products.
  • Be responsible for drafting and negotiating owner techno-commercial specifications, including the incorporation of the latest group experience and technical guidelines.
  • Be in charge of all technical-related agreements during the development phase, including documentation drafting and contractual negotiation (e.g. EPC, PPA, OMA, LTSA, OE, LTA, IE etc).
  • Define procurement strategies and construction strategies in collaboration with the Business Development Department, Procurement Department and Construction Department.
  • Prepare Capex and Opex costs including market consultation and integrating feedback from Group assets and Group specialists.
  • Prepare the Operations phase philosophy and technical related documents (OM organization chart, O&M references, O&M Philosophy, etc.).
  • Assess and evaluate technical risks and advise and/or draft professional reports during the various stages of the project approval process.
  • Perform technology watch and share knowledge within the Engineering team.
  • Hand-over technical aspects and documents to the Project and Operations companies, and Provide ad-hoc support and advisory to operational assets and construction projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The development of utility-scale energy projects and subsequent participation in government and corporate tenders in Engie Southern Africa is led by a Business Development Department and supported by the Engineering Department. The general role of a Technical Project Manager (TPM) is to:

  • Define and Lead the technical aspects of projects in Pre-Development (Feasibility), Development (Bid/Tender) and Final Development Stage (Financial Close) stage, including interfacing with internal stakeholders, engineering consultants, technology providers, suppliers and contractors with the aim of:
    • maturing technical solutions through each phase
    • improving bid competitiveness
    • and ensuring technical governance and sustainability criteria are respected (quality, health & safety, efficiency, environmental compliance) for the construction, operation and maintenance of the asset. 
  • Be responsible for choice of technologies, technical configuration and for setting relevant performance, statutory, safety and quality requirements.
  • Be responsible for the prescription, procurement specification, adjudication and management of technical services and products.
  • Be responsible for drafting and negotiating owner techno-commercial specifications, including the incorporation of the latest group experience and technical guidelines.
  • Be in charge of all technical-related agreements during the development phase, including documentation drafting and contractual negotiation (e.g. EPC, PPA, OMA, LTSA, OE, LTA, IE etc).
  • Define procurement strategies and construction strategies in collaboration with the Business Development Department, Procurement Department and Construction Department.
  • Prepare Capex and Opex costs including market consultation and integrating feedback from Group assets and Group specialists.
  • Prepare the Operations phase philosophy and technical related documents (OM organization chart, O&M references, O&M Philosophy, etc.).
  • Assess and evaluate technical risks and advise and/or draft professional reports during the various stages of the project approval process.
  • Perform technology watch and share knowledge within the Engineering team.
  • Hand-over technical aspects and documents to the Project and Operations companies, and Provide ad-hoc support and advisory to operational assets and construction projects.

What You Can Expect

As the Senior Battery Engineer you will be responsible for leading battery energy storage system (BESS) project design development and the associated project execution engineering support functions. The goals of this position are to continue the development of energy storage power plant design standards, ensure current projects in construction and the development pipeline meet technical and business requirements while maintaining our long-term ownership focus. Additionally, you will bring experience with utility-scale energy storage design as well as the ability to manage complex and time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment while communicating effectively.

 

  • Every day, you will ensure the highest level of environmental health and safety (EHS) is incorporated in all electrical engineering and design aspects of BESS projects. You will also serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for energy storage design & engineering
  • Develop and enhance BESS technical specifications for battery enclosures, storage inverters, auxiliary power equipment, and BESS supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system
  • Leading BESS fire protection and safety code compliance reviews Review project specific power purchase agreement (PPA) requirements and develop engineering procurement construction (EPC) technical exhibits
  • Support BESS construction and commissioning to address engineering issues
  • Responsible for selection of electrical engineering consultants when needed to support BESS projects and manage their activities to ensure consistent criteria, cost effective designs and timely delivery
  • Work as the main liaison internally between different stakeholders/ business units- engineering, project development, procurement, to ensure seamless execution of projects
  • Establish and maintain the engineering requirements for all future BESS projects
  • Work collaboratively with the development and procurement teams in sizing and optimizing energy storage systems and augmentation
  • Provide technical support to project development and marketing groups for BESS PPA negotiation/contract execution
  • SME support on battery technology selection and new products
  • Oversee BESS plant design engineering activities and coordinate with “Owners Engineer” to support reviews of 30%, 60%, 90%,  electrical studies, and vendor technical submittals
  • Support the Development group during open houses or public meetings concertation on BESS technical questions

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or four year degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering; or related field
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in engineering, of which at least three (3) years in energy storage
  • Working experience in battery technology for energy storage applications
  • Knowledge in batteries and battery systems with focus on Lithium technology
  • Understanding of battery degradation and life cycle behavior in relation to BESS use cases
  • Experience in utility-scale ac and dc coupled energy storage power plants
  • Familiarity with medium voltage ac collection and high voltage substation designs
  • Knowledge of energy storage inverters and energy storage technology offerings and suppliers and basic understanding of associated BESS plant electrical studies
  • Familiarity with latest versions of energy storage codes/standards including national fire protection association (NFPA) 855, national electric safety code (NESC)
  • Knowledge of energy storage project integration an associated plant SCADA / control systems
  • Ability to create, read and interpret construction plans and specifications

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips

Compensation

Salary Range: $146,300 – $224,135 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Your mission
As a Pipeline Engineer in the Gas-to-X Department at Tractebel, you will contribute to the engineering and development of gas pipelines, gas compression stations, and related industrial installations. Your role will focus on providing technical expertise across the full lifecycle of gas infrastructure projects, including feasibility studies, design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring that Tractebel delivers high-quality, on-time, and on-budget solutions.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • You will conduct feasibility studies and determine the optimal routing for gas pipelines.
  • You will integrate engineering disciplines into the design of gas transport systems.
  • You will deliver pipeline engineering services in line with Tractebel's and regulatory requirements.
  • You will perform technical-economic studies and cost estimates for pipeline projects.
  • You will execute detailed design studies and manage the procurement process.
  • You will oversee pre-commissioning, commissioning, and mechanical erection on-site.
